Our History

From the start of our business back in 1988, the technology has changed vastly, but our unyielding commitment to providing our customers a higher level of customer service has not changed. We feel that the simple practice of good communication is a timeless trait that we continue to strive for every day.

1991

Fortress Protection, LLC embraced the concept of Life Safety Consulting Services for our customers when dealing with the new Fire Prevention Codes and Standards.

As a result of a major fire in the City of Philadelphia, the U.S. Fire Administration published a Technical Report to detail the significant high-rise fire that tragically claimed the lives of three firefighters. Subsequently, the Philadelphia Fire Department overhauled the City Fire Code from their previous 200-page booklet to a comprehensive and extensive modern fire prevention code.

To keep pace with the emerging codes and standards, our firm began issuing detailed and thorough code-driven test reports for all of our fire system tests and inspections. Additionally, our firm provided real-world interpretation of the life safety codes and how best to meet the newly enacted standards. These reports prove to be invaluable when addressing system impairments or when documenting system configurations during a fire investigation and truly separating our firm from the competition.

Based on our reputation for concise reporting and attention to detail with our consulting services, our customer base quickly increased and educational facilities became our niche market. As our customer base increased, so did our reputation for school security consulting.

Fortress Protection, LLC became a valuable resource for school security solutions, including surveillance cameras and access control systems.

While working closely with educational facilities through our life safety consulting, our firm began to provide guidance on how to improve not only fire safety but to also include electronic security measures.

As a direct result of the tragic events that unfolded in Columbine, Colorado, our firm was featured in the press and on television both locally and nationally due to our established focus on school security.

2001

Fortress Protection, LLC provided our customers with detailed information on the topics of magnetometers and voice evacuation systems.

The horrific events of September 11th were so profound that it created a "pre-9/11" and "post-9/11" mentality in regard to security.

Our firm was called on to discuss with our educational, commercial, and municipal customers the operation and ramifications of these systems as they immediately updated their security policies.

2012

Fortress Protection, LLC was well-positioned to meet the service needs of our existing customers as well as new customers that found themselves without a reliable life safety systems service provider.

October 29th, 2012 proved to be a valuable lesson in storm pre-planning and business continuation plans. On that date, New Jersey took a direct hit from Hurricane Sandy.

Our voice-evacuation systems were utilized to notify building and facility occupants of the imminent storm conditions. This style of system, which is better known for fire-related notifications, provided an invaluable asset to high-rise building managers as they were able to make mass notification to all occupants.

Our firm pre-planned and was positioned with increased inventory of common service components as well as alternative means of communication in order to facilitate whatever service requests our customers presented.

The novel coronavirus COVID-19 has created a major disruption for all industries and a source of high anxiety for the general public worldwide.

Our firm is once again proving to be a valuable source of information through our Life Safety Consulting Services. A large number of our customers have been inquiring about Body Temperature Monitoring Technology as well as the requirements of the Center of Disease Control (CDC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

This technology utilizes a contactless method to obtain body temperatures in an effort to keep students, staff, and visitors safe.
